Peanut Pettett

I love coffee. I’m definitely not addicted, but I LOVE it. I think I came out of the womb wanting coffee instead of milk. When Jamie and I were little, we would beg for it. It was like ice cream to us; sometimes we would get some as a special treat. All through college, I loved having a cup of coffee when I studied and I loved sitting around a table visiting with friends at Sweet Eugene’s. Coffee, to me, is somewhat of a comfort and feeling of home.

But things started to change around the second or third week of March this year. When I would wake up in the morning, the thought of coffee would make my stomach turn. After one day of feeling that way I thought, “I must be sick!!” After 5 days of it, I began to get suspicious. Along with my apparent aversion to coffee, I also started to have short bouts of nausea. Hmmmm…. Still, I was just a bit confused…

UNTIL I read an article that said, “In early pregnancy women usually develop food aversions. The aversion is often to coffee or fried food.” Hmmm… No way. Not a chance. I absolutely didn’t believe it. There had to be some other explanation for this. Well needless to say, on Friday night, March 21st, I finally decided it might be best to take a pregnancy test. And, well… Go figure… IT WAS POSITIVE!

WE’RE HAVING A BABY!!! I had my first sonogram this morning, and everything looks great. We saw the heartbeat and all… this is SO surreal. I think I’m still in a state of shock. My friend Michelle teased and said, “There’s no turning back!” I have to admit that statement just keeps echoing in my head! From now on, for the rest of my life, I will have children. Oh my goodness. It is quite overwhelming! I have been praying like a mad woman, feeling how desperate I am for God’s guidance and strength as a parent. But, of course, there is much joy alongside the shock – heck, children are a reward! Behold, children are a gift of the LORD; The fruit of the womb is a reward.” Psalm 127:3

Mom & Jamie think it’s a boy. Dad & Josh think it’s a girl. Any other guesses or inclinations? I have mine, but I’m not willing to share it yet.

Thank you all for sharing with us in this joy. Please continue to pray for our little peanut.  Our due date is November 24th… 6 days before my birthday! 🙂

Love, Casey

So my gut feeling might be moving towards a girl, but I have a feeling that I wont be “allowed” to change my guess…

    Congratulations! 🙂

Hee… sort of the same thing with me. When people say, “I forgot to eat,” or “I was too sick to eat,” I always thought, “Wow, I wish I had that problem, at least periodically.” Eating had never before in my life just slipped my mind, nor had I ever EVER been too ill to jam some food down my gullet. So the one day of my life I felt so nauseated that I absolutely could NOT bear the thought of ingesting a morsel, it took the entirety of the day before I wondered, “Hmmm… why is THIS time different?”

Very interestingly, I just looked back and realized I took my PG test on March 20, 2001. 🙂 So maybe you’ll have a Halloween baby?

Again, congrats. Nothing will ever be the same again. (In a good way. Eventually.) 😀

Adding another one to the baby posse…love it!! Can you believe our life has gone from Banana Republic and eating out to Baby Gap and play dates?….even if Peanut Pettett is just hanging out in the womb!! We are tied with 2 girls and 2 boys in the posse so we will see what sex dominates! SO excited for you guys! You seem like you were kind of meant for motherhood! You know I’ll be bugging you about those names so don’t you dare pull the “not going to tell anyone” thing…
love you lady and baby too!

YAY!!! I’m so excited for you! Truly, children are a blessing from the Lord! Little Clara Rose has taught me and Ron that truth! We can’t imagine life without her – soon you will be having these same thoughts! I can’t wait til you start feeling the baby move – and then when Jason can – pregnancy is such a wonderful time – even if there are aversions! (mine was fettucine alfredo – my favorite!) Enjoy it all!
    Love you,
    Michelle
